REDHILL & DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Bletchingley Football Club was formed in 1955 by Mr George Hall and soon became well known in local football as ‘Bletch’.  They played their football in the Redhill & District League and worked their way up through the divisions until they won the Premier Division in 1964/65.

The 80’s saw Bletch have considerable success culminating in 1986-87 when they won the Premier Division for the second time in four seasons.  The following season (1987-88) saw them promoted to the Surrey S.E. Intermediate League.  Their first season at Intermediate level saw them gain the Runners Up spot in Division Two.  In 1991-92, two Intermediate Leagues amalgamated to form the Surrey S.E. Combination League.

Bletch became founder members of that league.  Their first success came in 1999-2000 when they won the Third Division and the Ellis Printers Senior Shield.  Bletch played in the Surrey Intermediate Cup Final in season 2001-02 losing the final to Coney Hall 4-2 on a penalty shoot out.

Season 2008-09 has possibly been Bletch’s best ever.  They won the Crawley League Premier Division and Senior League Cup plus the Oxted Senior Charity Cup as well as being Runners Up in the Surrey Intermediate Cup Final, again losing 3-1 to Battersea Ironsides.
